I Believe The Internet Has Been In Existance For 40 Years. Happy Anniversary!

Well, it is now 40 years since the internet was first in use. Who would have believed, in those early days, how great it would become in such a rather short period?

I remember, as a little child, thinking how fortunate were inventors like Alexander Graham Bell, being able to invent the telephone. Others had invented wireless, tv, cinecamera. What was there left for those of my generation to think of? It is lucky others had more vision than I did. We now benefit from electronic games, pda’s, CDs and many other brilliant items which I could not have envisaged as a child.

On the fortieth anniversary of the internet, it is interesting to see the changes we have encountered in the use of computers over this time. In the early days, there was no w3, so the internet was not the same as we think of in 2009 when we say we use it.

Not every business had use of PCs four decades ago, without considering people having multiple computers in their house. Even as late as the 1990’s the company where I worked had only one computer which would connect to the internet and everyone who worked for the company had to rely on this in order to connect with the internet.

In those days, the concept of using a search engine was an alien concept. Now Search Engine Placement is understood, by both businesses and individuals, to be an integral part of internet experience. Seo companies have become available, in order to assist companies improve their search engine positioning.

Companies, in turn, will search for an seo company which they think have the knowledge to enhance their Online Marketing capabilities. Because laptops are now relatively inexpensive, quite a few households will have more than one. They are compact, do not need dedicated lots of wires and cables, which look untidy. Before these came to pass it was all too easy to lose contact with others when they were no longer in their daily circle.

I am really pleased that other individuals can come up with inventions to improve my daily life, and this all makes me wonder what we will be seeing four decades from today – things at present in their infancy or not yet even thought of.
